Work started on the new “Ahrendt Abode” during the last week of November. Estimated time for completion is 8 to 10 months. Not that it’s a big house but it takes workers that long in this part of the country.

Above: We laid out what we thought would be a good location prior to clearing the land. We had hoped to keep all of the large trees but we couldn’t figure out a placement that didn’t take out some of them. So we had the land cleared off of underbrush and then we went back out and placed the house (see below). The people in the area are amazed when we tell them we have two buildable lots (and we bought the 3rd that is unbuildable) because most houses are build on lots under an acre in the area.
House placement still ended up taking out some of the big trees and we found out the large oak that was on the property was hollow ... a good thing that we found it out before it fell on the house.
